The CIA is Watching Me!

I just received an email from someone at the CIA stating someone with my IP address has been to over 30 illegal websites and there is a list of questions attached. Knowing this is probably a virus, but curious enough not to just delete, I first check snopes to see if they have anything about this. Not finding it quickly, I next decide to call the number listed at the bottom, expecting to get a wrong number. Instead, it is the public affairs office of CIA and a prerecorded message states if I am trying to reach Steven Allison with the CIA about an email I received about viewing illegal websites, please delete the email as it is a hoax.

Someone must have had a beef with Mr. Allison.

It's bullshit, most likely.

Check out Gary Cruse at the Owner's Manual.

He discusses the e-mail at length...

Not a hoax as someone has been sending emails reported to be from the FBI. This was more than likely an attempt at identity theft or a virus. Still, though, there is no reason not to be paranoid. The CIA may really be watching you!

I received 2 emails from Steven Allison FBI & 2 emails from Steven Allison CIA. My research shows that the attachment contains a copy of the Sober.CF worm.

THANK YOU ALL for saving my dinosaur butt over here... I would have opened the attachment, but I was a bit suspicious, thank goodness. I need to be technically literate, preferably soon. Anyway, thanks again for your help!

Google search is something else! I googled the name Steve Allison and FBI and got this site! I got the same email about my IP has been logged on over 30 illegal websites. And this was a school email address, which I never use! Needless to say, I was kind of shook, but then I thought, I don't go on any websites that would be deemed illegal either. But I'm not going to let my guard down, because I know the government has many ways of monitoring the activities of citizens like you and me!

I'm tired of this clown. I wish I could find that person. He needs a boot to the head and a punch in his throat for waisting everyones time. And I hope Steven reads this the Rat Bastard.

What if this message was in my bulk folder and I still opened the attachment? Do I still get the virus?

feeling let down now! I got 4 emails - all to the same address - but they said I only was on 25 illegal websites.

New Years Resolution - look at more illegal websites to get my quota up!!

For those of you who are angry towards Steven Allison, your anger is not really warranted. I got the CIA version and I've got to say, do really think if some government employee was going email you with a VIRUS, do you really think he would put his name on it? Do you really think this guy got into the FBI or CIA - if he's really an employee, do you think he got hired by one of the agencies by being a complete moron who's going to send out viruses from his computer at work with his name on it? Come on people, use some common sense. There is a putz out there somewhere doing this but I seriously don't think it's Steven Allison.

Just got a message from Mr Allison myself, and frankly it spooked me enough to delete my porn (though I've still got the backup's in a safe place... :) ) though I ain't stupid enough to run an exe file.

... and I came home from a weekend away to discover over 300 bounced e-mails - someone took over my e-mail account!

Damned spammers/virii writers.

I have mailed the abuse team at ellsouth.net in the hope they shut this down. Well you have to hope

I also got a couple emails from Stephen Allison. One was from the CIA and one was from the FBI. My first reaction was panic but then I thought "How would someone be in the FBI and the CIA at the same time...It seems kind of odd." So then I replied to it asking specifically what they were talking about. Needless to say, they never emailed me back. I did try to open the attachment but it didnt work. And I also had bounced emails. I googled Stephen Allison and i got this site.

Insightful....So that's why my computer has been acting wierd lately.

Thank You Everyone!!

I got the same damn email! The same one that said I had visited 30 illegal websites. I do view porn on occasian, but it is legal. The attachment was deleted text though 'cuz I am on a Mac. It seemed real at first, so I checked the CIA website and the address, phone# and all were legit, BUT I read more.....the CIA is NOT allowed BY LAW to spy on us. After reading that and google-ing Steve Allison and CIA I came to this website and know that email was a hoax. It is against the law for the government to spy on us.
You can read it on the CIA website!
